Dino Island: The Floor is Lava

The volcano is rumbling on Dino Island, and the Pups need your help to make it safely to the beach! Kids will come together as a team to cross the “lava” and complete their mission with confidence.

Created in partnership with the Nickelodeon Youth Coalition. Kids liek yours helped design it!

Directions
  1. Select an open space where kids can move safely from one side of the room to the other. Mark one side as "The Volcano" and the other side as "The Beach."
  2. Create a place where kids can pick up a number “rocks” for different group sizes to start the game. Each group should have one rock for each player, plus one extra rock. For example, a group of four kids should receive five rocks. A kid playing solo can use two rocks.
  3. Invite kids to start at the volcano and use the rocks to create a safe path across the lava. Players may only step on the rocks, not the lava! To move forward, children take turns picking up the rock behind them and placing it ahead of the group. If one player “falls in,” have the team start again at the volcano and talk about what to do differently this time.

Encourage kids to talk to one another, make a plan, and help every player reach the beach.
